  • 4 tbsps melted Planta margarine
  • 1/2 tbsps salt
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 300 grams plain flour
  • 200 mL water
  1. Melt 4 tbsp of Planta margarine in a pan and pour it into a bowl.
  2. Dissolve salt and sugar in water. Sift flour and mix in salt/sugar mixture evenly until a dough is formed. Knead until smooth.
  3. If the dough is too wet, dust some flour to make it easier to shape the dough.
  4. Divide dough into 6 small balls. Coat each dough with melted planta margarine and place them on an oiled plate. Let dough rest overnight.
  5. Flatten dough and flip it several times until it expands.
  6. Lift 1 side of the dough up and swirl it on the table to form a circle and tuck the end of the dough underneath.
  7. Sprinkle some melted Planta margarine on the dough before letting the dough rest for 3 minutes.
  8. Flatten dough once more. Place it on a pan heated at medium heat.
  9. Once Roti Canai lightly browns and crispy, remove from the pan and give it a light clap.
  10. Serve with curry, dhal, sugar and Planta margarine or enjoy it plain.
