  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 1/4 cups warm water
  • 3 tablespoons Planta margarine
  • 1 cup carrot finely grated
For cooking
  • 8 to 10 tablespoons Planta margarine
  1. Add flour, sugar and salt to a bowl and mix.
  2. Add the grated carrots and mix until fully combined.
  3. Pour warm water and knead for 3 - 4 mins until it forms into a dough.
  4. Add the Planta Margarine and knead again for 5 - 6 mins.
  5. Let the dough rest for 20 - 30 mins covered with a cloth.
  6. Divide the dough into 4 equals parts and then roll each one into a large circle.
  7. Spread 2 tablespoons Planta Margarine on the dough and then use a knife to cut the dough into 2 semi circles.
  8. Roll each half to form a cone and then press it down to form a rough ball. Cover the rest of the dough as you roll the chapati’s.
  9. Sprinkle flour on each ball of dough and then roll it / flatten it out to about ¼ inch thickness with a rolling pin.
Cooking the chapati
  1. Place it on a hot pan and let it cook for 30 - 45 secs. Flip it over and spread ½ tablespoon Planta Margarine over it. Flip again and press it down as you spread another ½ tablespoon Planta Margarine over it. Flip again and cook for another 30 - 45 secs.
  2. Repeat with the rest and keep the chapati’s covered as you cook them to keep them soft.
